形態：群体は樹木卓状、準樹木状。放射サンゴ個体は欠刻開口の管状であるが変異が大きく、不規則に並ぶ。放射サンゴ個体外唇部の半円状の飛び出しが目立つ。
識別点：Acropora robusta ヤスリミドリイシとの区別が困難。Wallace (1999) では、ほとんど違いがなく、唯一、本種では枝の先端での複数の分岐が見られるとしている
(色彩が、ヤスリミドリイシで多い「緑とピンク」のものが、本種では全くないという記載もあるが、同定基準としては弱い)。担名タイプの写真では、ヤスリミドリイシは放射サンゴ個体の外唇部が丸く揃っているのに対し、本種の放射サンゴ個体は不規則で、外唇部が長く飛び出しているように見えるが、今後検討が必要である。
分布と生態：礁縁部の浅い波あたりの強い場所に見られる。
和名の由来：本種の和名は白井 (1977) により与えられたが、由来については述べられていない。
備考：本種は、かつては A. danai と同定されていたが、Wallace (1999) で見直され、A. abrotanoides のシノニムと位置づけられた。
